Pre-Operation Instruction

• Do not shave back of scalp. Surgeon will trim hair before starting the procedure.
• Stop Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications that contain Aspirin.
• Wash your hair in the morning using your regular shampoo.
• Have a light breakfast two hour prior to your procedure.Do not wear anything that will have to be pulled tightly over your head on day of surgery.

Postoperative instructions

• On the first night, sleep in semi upright position, taking 2-3 pillows.
• Make sure to take all the prescribed medications. The painkillers relieve mild painful discomfort.
• Do not wet hair for 72 hours after the transplant, At first visit doctor Parag will give you detail instructions about hair wash.
• Scabs/crusts form, which cling to the grafts during the healing phase. These will fall off in 7-10 days. DO NOT pick at them.
• Avoid strenuous exercise and swimming for three weeks.
• There will be mild swelling on forehead and around the eyes. This is normal and it will last generally for 24-36 hours, before disappearing on its own.
• Minor symptoms like itching, decreased sensation over head may occur but will subside in few days.
• Shedding of existing hair occurs when there is weak existing hair in the transplanted areas of the scalp. This effect can be seen 12-14 weeks post transplant. Do not panic, the hair will grow back along with the new hair. Another type of shedding is that of the transplanted hair, most of which will fall out within the first 3 to 5 weeks . This is perfectly normal and new growth starts at about 3-6 months after the transplant.
• You need multiple sitting to fill good number of grafts that will make you really look full.
